Job Description
Navantia UK is a UK incorporated company, subsidiary of Spanish Navantia, created to work with UK industrial partners in shipbuilding, defence and in offshore wind energy. With a history that goes back more than 300 hundred years, Navantia is a world reference in the design, building, integration and life cycle support of state-of-the-art war ships for the Spanish Navy and international customers and has extensive experience in ToT programmes.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Provides broad HSE direction and subject matter expertise to Navantia UK Appledore business and their programmes.
- Business HSE authority to ensure processes needed for the business are established, implemented and maintained.
- Develop and maintain HSE procedures and processes that comply with relevant UK legislation and best practices to support NUK business and programmes.
- Manage Government and Customer matters regarding HSE.
- Manage the Heath surveillance and Health Assessment requirements for the site to ensure compliance with statutory responsibilities.
- Monitor the Company’s performance in the relevant areas, measure this against benchmarks and develop and present regular reports and analyses that will provide a basis for identifying and implementing improvement opportunities.
- Liaise with Finance Department in respect of HSE Budget, EL & PL Insurance
- Determines operational objectives and assignments for subordinate staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, 45001), Environmental and health and safety standards, Understanding of OSHA reporting.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities: Experienced in liaison with enforcing Bodies HSE, EA, Fire, LA.
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills to manage and inspire the HSE team.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- NEBOSH Diploma or similar
- Experience in ISO 450001 & 14001 standards, develop with the line a comprehensive audit program to satisfy the requirements of ISO 14001, and 45001.
- Experience in Net Zero and Carbon Reduction including generating & managing net-zero calculation and plan to Net Zero.
- In depth knowledge and experience of UK health & Safety regulations and how these are effectively implemented into business processes to ensure business compliance and employee and visitor safety.
- Previous experience holding a managerial position of an HSE team. 5 years’ experience desirable.
- Proven HSE relevant experience in heavy engineering, defence or related industry.
