Job summary

An established bakery products manufacturer in Leeds is seeking a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator to ensure compliance with health and safety systems. The successful candidate will have experience in HSE roles within food or FMCG environments and will support risk assessments, conduct audits, and guide staff on safety practices. This full-time position offers an annual salary of up to £40,000 and various employee benefits including a pension and generous leave.

Qualifications

Alexander Steele are working with an established bakery products manufacturer in Leeds who are looking to recruit a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator to join their team.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar HSE role within a food or FMCG manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of safety systems, risk assessments, and environmental compliance.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation and ongoing development of the site Health, Safety & Environmental management systems
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and workplace inspections in line with company policy and legal requirements
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and colleagues to maintain a safe working environment
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Lead toolbox talks and promote a positive safety culture across all departments
  • Ensure site compliance with environmental standards, including waste management and energy use
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, documentation, and reporting for both internal and external audits
  • Support continuous improvement projects to drive engagement and best practice in health, safety, and environmental performance
