Job summary

Elevation Recruitment Group is assisting a leading organisation in recruiting an Interim SHEQ Advisor for a 6-month assignment. The role supports the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality function with hands-on compliance, audits and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will have NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent, auditing experience and a track record of improving SHEQ performance in an operational environment.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent experience.
• Internal Auditor qualification or equivalent auditing experience.
• Experience carrying out and reporting on Safety, Environmental and/or Quality audits.
• Experience developing or maintaining SHEQ management systems.
• Strong understanding of health and safety within an operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Support legal compliance across all SHEQ-related activities.
• Carry out workplace inspections, audits and assurance activities.
• Monitor contract activities and ensure work is completed safely and in line with required standards.
• Support managers with risk assessments, procedures and associated actions.
• Undertake accident and incident investigations and support corrective actions.
• Identify opportunities for continual improvement across safety, environmental and quality performance.
• Support the development and maintenance of the Safety Management System.
• Analyse SHEQ data and help develop improvement plans.
• Promote a proactive and positive safety culture across the wider business.

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a leading organisation to recruit an Interim SHEQ Advisor to support its Safety, Health, Environment and Quality function for the next 6 months.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SHEQ professional to play a hands‑on role in driving compliance, improving safety performance and promoting a positive safety culture across a busy operational environment.

The Interim SHEQ Advisor will be responsible for:

• Supporting legal compliance across all SHEQ-related activities
• Carrying out workplace inspections, audits and assurance activities
• Monitoring contractor activities and ensuring work is completed safely and in line with required standards
• Supporting managers with risk assessments, procedures and associated actions
• Undertaking accident and incident investigations and supporting corrective actions
• Identifying opportunities for continual improvement across safety, environmental and quality performance
• Supporting the development and maintenance of the Safety Management System
• Analysing SHEQ data and helping develop improvement plans
• Promoting a proactive and positive safety culture across the wider business

We are looking for someone with:

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent experience
• Internal Auditor qualification or equivalent auditing experience
• Previous experience carrying out and reporting on Safety, Environmental and/or Quality audits
• Experience developing or maintaining SHEQ management systems
• A strong understanding of health and safety within an operational environment
• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, solution‑focused approach
• The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with managers and wider stakeholders

Experience within rail or another safety-critical operational environment would be advantageous, as would knowledge of ROGS, RM3 and rail safety requirements.
