We have sites in England and Amsterdam.

Main purpose of the role

A direct report to the UK Head of SHEQ with key responsibility to advise in all aspects of HSE with a primary focus on waste and environmental management.

What you will be doing:
  • Provide expert advice and support to site teams on environmental compliance, waste management, and health & safety matters, ensuring alignment with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site environmental programs, including waste minimisation & pollution prevention.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with environmental permit conditions, including monitoring and reporting to regulatory bodies as required.
  • Conduct environmental and waste audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance and identify improvements.
  • Maintain and update the site environmental aspects and impacts register, ensuring it reflects current operations and supports ISO 14001 certification.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to embed environmental and safety considerations into daily activities.
  • Support incident investigations related to environmental and waste issues, ensuring root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
  • Liaise with external waste contractors to ensure compliant and cost-effective waste disposal solutions.
  • Monitor and report HSE management information.
Your key relationships will be:
  • You will liaise with regulators on waste management aspects where required (APHA, EA, HSE)
  • You will advise and liaise with business functions to ensure legislative or compliance requirements are met.
  • You will work with Procurement and vendors/suppliers to ensure waste contracts are cost effective

Qualifications and experience required:
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent subject Diploma level (highly desirable)
  • Recognised waste management certificate (WAMITAB or CIWM)
  • Experience in a waste management or health and safety role
  • Experience in dealing with recognised H&S audit systems e.g. HSG65 or ISO45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Experience in working with environmental permits and preferably would have worked on COMAH sites
  • Experience in dealing with animal by-product regulations (desirable)
