Job summary

A leading aviation and defense consultancy is seeking a Health, Safety & Environment Advisor in Oxford. You will be the primary HSE lead, ensuring compliance with safety standards and supporting ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Key responsibilities include managing health and safety systems, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a proactive safety culture. The ideal candidate will have a NEBOSH Certificate and experience in HSE advisory roles. Current right to work in the UK is required, and no sponsorship is available.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Health, Safety & Environment advisory role.
  • Ability to interpret legislation and influence effectively across all levels.
  • DBS check required and eligibility for SC clearance.

About the role

Arden White is recruiting for a Health, Safety & Environment Advisor to support a leading aviation and defence organisation. This is an on‑site role where you will act as the primary HSE lead, maintaining high standards of safety, environmental compliance and supporting ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage the Health & Safety Management System.
  • Lead risk assessments, incident/accident investigations and safety reporting.
  • Conduct site walkarounds, inspections, toolbox talks and promote proactive safety culture.
  • Oversee occupational health, fire safety, PPE, COSHH, DSE and manual handling compliance.
  • Support the Environmental Management System, waste management and legislation adherence.
  • Assist with internal and external HSE audits and non‑conformance closure.
What We’re Looking For
  • Previous experience in a Health, Safety & Environment advisory role.
  • NEBOSH Certificate (minimum) or IOSH‑approved qualification.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret legislation and influence effectively across all levels.
Desirable Experience
  • Background within aviation, engineering or a technical environment.
  • Degree in H&S, risk, engineering, construction or similar.
  • Training qualification.
Additional Requirements
  • DBS check required and eligibility for SC clearance.
  • Must meet Export Compliance requirements.
  • Current right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
