About the Role

An established and growing organisation is seeking a motivated Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor to support the development and implementation of effective HSE systems and initiatives. Working closely with the HSE Manager, you will help drive compliance, continuous improvement, and a strong safety culture across a large operational site.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 2‑3 years' HSE experience who is ready to take the next step in their career within a dynamic and expanding organisation.

About the Environment

The role is based at a 250,000 sq. ft recycling facility employing around 145 staff across multiple operational areas. The site operates within an industrial environment, with regular exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery. Full PPE is provided and must be worn at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support HSE initiatives across the site.
  • Embed good practice and develop safe systems of work.
  • Promote and strengthen a positive, proactive safety culture.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support internal and external audits and accreditations.
  • Conduct internal audits and ensure findings are actioned.
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Review and update health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Oversee PPE management, ensuring availability and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate fire safety, first aid, and site inspection records.
  • Plan and coordinate HSE training, and deliver internal sessions where required.
  • Support external inspections and ensure continuous improvement in safety performance.
About You

You're an ambitious and proactive HSE professional, keen to challenge the norm and drive positive change. You can engage colleagues at all levels, influence behaviour, and help embed a strong culture of safety and responsibility.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Around 2‑3 years' experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental role, ideally within manufacturing, recycling, or an industrial setting.
  • Holds or is working towards a NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent qualification).
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent) as a minimum.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and compliance.
  • Confident in delivering training and communicating across all levels.
  • Excellent organisation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.
Desirable
  • Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 standards.
  • Experience in the waste or recycling sector.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
