Job Title: HSDU Technician Salary: £15,915.73 per annum Hours: 25 per week Contract: Permanent Type of Employment: Part Time Location: Russells Hall Hospital, Pensnett Road, Dudley, West Midlands, England, DY1 2HQ

Overview

As an integral member of the HSDU team, the post holder will provide a decontamination service to all theatres, wards and departments throughout the Trust. The department is responsible for the cleaning, inspection, assembly, packing and sterilising of surgical equipment. No experience necessary as full training is given.

Responsibilities
  • Work in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Reprocess reusable medical devices in a controlled environment.
  • Receive and prepare contaminated equipment for washing through an automated process.
  • Reassemble and pack equipment to customer requirements.
  • Load equipment into sterilisers and unload/dispatch to theatres, wards and departments.
  • Safely operate decontamination equipment and undertake routine testing.
  • General housekeeping of workstations; dispose of clinical/household waste; report defects of equipment to Supervisors.
  • Assist in departmental audits and investigate any non-conformances.
  • Undertake any training appropriate to HSDU and complete all mandatory training.
Qualifications

Good level of numeracy and literacy; flexible. Able to stand for long periods. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a very busy environment.
