Job summary

Kier Group are recruiting a Maintenance Operative to join the HS2 facilities team in Rushden, Northamptonshire. You will perform plumbing and general fabric upkeep across HS2 sites with occasional travel between Wendover and Southam. Core duties include planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance, plus safety checks and compliance.

Hours are 08:00–17:00, Monday to Friday, with some flex. WRAS and Legionella certifications are required; a full driving licence is essential for site travel.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance, particularly plumbing and fabric maintenance.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across plumbing and general fabric tasks.
• A full driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
• Comfortable using mobile job tracking software.

Responsibilities

• Installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems, fixtures, and appliances within the compounds
• Carrying out general building fabric maintenance, including carpentry and handyman tasks
• Completing weekly and monthly PPMs such as fire alarm testing, fire extinguisher checks, emergency light testing, and legionnaires checks
• Responding to reactive maintenance requests, resolving issues efficiently and professionally
• Conducting routine inspections to ensure all buildings remain safe and compliant with health and safety regulations
