Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited seeks an HS&E Advisor to support site Health & Safety and Environmental activities in Gloucester. The role involves on-site work, 37.5 hours/week, and a 12-month duration with a DBS check conducted after selection.

Responsibilities include risk assessment coordination, data reporting to regulators, and driving continuous improvement of HS&E systems, including ISO 14001 alignment. NEBOSH and IEMA qualifications are required.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equiv).
  • IEMA foundation certificate in Environmental management (or equiv).
  • Demonstrate discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with Health & Safety/Environmental regulation knowledge.
  • Computer literate with good admin ability.
  • SharePoint and TESSE skills advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake analysis of surface and treated water and other discharge samples to verify batch release and determine permit and consent compliance.
  • Coordinate Risk assessment systems and records (General Risk, COSHH & Ergonomics), prompting reviews and progressing actions.
  • Provide support and advice on Health & Safety and Environmental issues on site, with specialist guidance when needed.
  • Support data collection and reporting to regulator, and verify COMAH and environmental permit compliance.
  • Undertake assessment of noise, vibration and air quality with HS&E team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement of HS&E management systems by generating procedures and practices.
  • Support Environmental Advisor with aspect and impact assessments and ISO 14001 operations.
  • Investigate accidents/spills and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Undertake audits of HS&E management systems and progress actions through to completion.
  • Provide reports/dashboards to HS&E Manager and departments for monitoring and improvement.
  • Provide HS&E input to site projects as required.
  • Other reasonable duties as required by the department.

HS&E Advisor

Location: Gloucester
Duration: 12 months
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: GBP 25 - GBP 27 p/h
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Working Pattern: Full time on site, 5 days per week
Background Check: DBS check will be conducted when candidate is selected

Job Description
  • Undertake analysis of surface and treated water and other discharge samples to verify batch release and determine permit and consent compliance.
  • Co-ordinate the Risk assessment systems and records (including General Risk, COSHH & Ergonomics) including the prompting of reviews and progressing (via line management) the completion of identified actions.
  • Provide support and advice to employees and managers in relation to Health and Safety & Environmental issues on site, involving other members of the HS&E team to provide specialist guidance when necessary.
  • Support through collection of data and reporting of figures to the regulator, the verification of COMAH and environmental permit compliance.
  • Undertake assessment of noise, vibration and air quality across the site in association with other HS&E Team members.
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement of HS&E management systems on site through generation of procedures and working practices that support continuous improvement of HS&E performance.
  • Support the Environmental Advisor with aspect and impact assessments and the operation of the ISO 14001 management system as well as the Client's H&S management systems.
  • Investigate accidents and spills on site, supporting departmental managers to undertake local investigations where appropriate and identify and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Undertake Audits of the HS&E management systems, identify improvements and progress actions through to completion.
  • Provide reports and dashboards both to the HS&E Manager and to departments to support continuous monitoring and improvement processes.
  • Provide HS&E input to site projects as and when required.
  • Other reasonable duties as required by the department, as determined by HS&E Manager.
Candidate Skills & Requirements
  • Minimum of NEBOSH Certificate (or equiv).
  • Minimum of IEMA foundation certificate in Environmental management (or equiv).
  • They must be able to demonstrate a high degree of discretion and sensitivity whilst maintaining confidentiality.
  • They must possess the interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to work effectively at all levels within the company.
  • They will have experience of working in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of Health & Safety and/or Environmental regulation.
  • Computer literate and with good administrative ability.
  • SharePoint, TESSE, skills advantageous.
Additional Description
  • Support the HS&E Team deputising for others where necessary.
  • Support the effluent treatment area through the analysis of samples.
  • Act as an advisor and support for the wider workforce with regard to HS&E issues, demonstrating good practices through actions.
