Job description

Location: Remote working with onsite attendance for company meetings in Bristol 1 day every month

Salary: to £50k DOE

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Aspire Jobs are working exclusively with our client who are a software company that are just about to go through a period of growth.

They are now bringing their HR & Training inhouse and therefore are looking for a CIPD level 5 qualified HR & Training Manager. The role is standalone and reports to the CEO. With a 50 / 50 split of HR and Training you will have experience of both.

The successful HR & Training Manager will
  • CIPD level 5 or QBE
  • Confidence to implement performance plans where needed
  • Confident to deal with employment law changes
  • Strong grounding in UK HR employment law
  • Demonstrated track record in employee relations casework and risk management
  • Experience in assessing, designing and implementing learning & development strategies
  • Strong coaching skills, with the ability to influence and develop managers
  • Excellent communication skills with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach
  • Must drive and have own transport
  • Be a natural leader who is self-motivated, determined and committed to delivering outcomes
  • Commercially minded with a people-first approach
  • Confident, approachable, relationship builder who is able to inspire trust
  • Knowledge of digital learning platforms and LMS tools
  • Exposure to scaling businesses’ (SME or high-growth environments) would be desirable
Responsibilities
Employment Law & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment legislation, including contracts, policies, working time, equality, GDPR, and health & safety
  • Provide proactive advice and reactive support for employee relations cases (disciplinaries, grievances, redundancies, TUPE, etc.)
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate clear HR policies and procedures aligned with best practice and business needs
  • Act as the point of escalation for complex HR matters, advising senior leaders on risk and resolution
Manager Coaching & Leadership Development
  • Partner with managers to build their confidence in handling people-related matters, offering coaching and guidance to support effective decision-making
  • Deliver training to leaders on key HR topics such as performance management, process / operational matters, and employee engagement
  • Support leadership capability development through tailored workshops and ongoing coaching conversations
  • Assist the CEO in creation, maintenance and planning of a clear succession strategy
Learning Culture & Organisational Development
  • Define and implement the company’s learning strategy, ensuring it supports both technical excellence (software, data enrichment expertise) and soft skills (leadership, communication, customer excellence)
  • Establish frameworks for continuous learning, from onboarding through to career progression, making learning part of everyday practice
Employee Experience & Engagement
  • Act as a cultural ambassador, embedding their 4 key values and behaviours that align with the company’s vision
  • Design initiatives to enhance employee engagement, retention, and career development - ensuring their successful implementations
