Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is looking for an experienced HR Advisor to support HR operations in a large secondary school in York. The ideal candidate will manage recruitment processes, ensure compliance with safer recruitment standards, and advise on various employee relations issues. Applicants need at least CIPD Level 3, with Level 5 being desirable. This full-time role offers the opportunity to positively impact staff wellbeing and maintain effective HR functions.

Qualifications

  • Must have HR experience in a school or public-sector setting.
  • CIPD Level 3 is required; Level 5 is desirable.
  • Familiarity with KCSIE safer recruitment and employee relations procedures is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for teaching and support staff.
  • Lead on pre-employment checks and maintain a compliant Single Central Record.
  • Advise on absence, capability, disciplinary, and other employee relations matters.
  • Support staff wellbeing and CPD processes.
  • Maintain HR systems and ensure GDPR compliance.
  • Provide accurate HR reporting to senior leaders.

About the Role

A large oversubscribed 1118 secondary school in York is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to support the full range of HR operations. The postholder will work closely with SLT support safer recruitment processes manage employee relations cases and ensure the schools HR function runs smoothly and compliantly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for teaching and support staff
  • Lead on pre‑employment checks and maintain a fully compliant SCR
  • Advise on absence capability, disciplinary and other ER matters
  • Support staff wellbeing and CPD processes
  • Maintain HR systems and ensure GDPR compliance
  • Provide accurate HR reporting to senior leaders
About You
  • HR experience in a school or public‑sector setting
  • CIPD Level 3 (minimum) Level 5 desirable
