Contract: Maternity Cover (1 year Fixed Term Contract)

Location: Silverwood School, Rowde Campus
Hours: 35 per week, Mon – Fri, Term time plus inset days + 2 weeks
Salary: G Grade (£15.06 – 16.08), Approx. pro rata salary £24,860.45

About the role

As the Human Resources Officer, you’ll provide proactive, high quality HR support across all aspects of the employee lifecycle – from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations, wellbeing and absent management. Working closely with the Director of Finance and Resources you will:

  • Carry out HR administrative tasks ensuring compliance with policies, legislation and safer recruitment practices.
  • Advise and support managers on employee relations, absence management and performance alongside support from our HR Team at Wiltshire Council Local Authority.
  • Coordinate recruitment campaigns and induction processes for new staff.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HR records.
  • Contribute to HR initiatives that promote staff wellbeing, engagement and inclusion.
Ideal candidate
  • Have experience in HR operations, ideally within an education or public sector setting.
  • Previous knowledge of safer recruitment and HR best practices.
  • Be organised and detail‑oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have confidence to work independently while being a supportive member of a small HR Team.
  • Be committed to upholding the school values.
  • A CIPD qualification of Level 3 or above, or equivalent experience is desirable.
