Are you a skilled and compassionate HR professional looking to make a difference in a thriving school environment? Woodfield School is seeking a dedicated and proactive HR Officer to join our team. This key role will support the school's workforce while ensuring the highest standards of HR management, compliance, and staff wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Employee Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full employee lifecycle for all staff members, from recruitment to exit.
- HR Administration: Create employment contracts, manage staff records, and ensure all HR processes are handled efficiently.
- Compliance & Recruitment: Ensure compliance with safer recruitment standards and review HR policies. Lead recruitment for all staffing levels, including senior roles. Organise and lead on recruitment events.
- Employee Relations & Advice: Handle sensitive employee relations matters, provide practical advice on employment law, assist with grievances, and support difficult conversations.
- Confidential HR Data Management: Manage confidential HR data, including sickness records, payroll details, and staff files. Ensure sensitive information is shared appropriately.
- Health and Safety/GDPR: Oversee accident and injury reporting, manage the CPD refresher cycle for staff. Support the Business Manager with GDPR compliance and the annual audit.
- Staff Wellbeing: Conduct regular care calls for staff on long-term sick leave, manage return-to-work meetings, and provide support through medical risk assessments and reasonable adjustments.
- Payroll & Budget Management: Manage the monthly payroll process, data input, ensuring accuracy.
- Strategic HR Guidance: Work closely with the Headteacher and leadership team to provide advice on employee relations, disciplinary procedures, and sickness management.
- Collaboration & Professional Development: Collaborate with external partners for payroll and staffing management. Commit to ongoing professional development and adapt to the evolving needs of the school.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in an HR role, ideally within the education sector.
- Desirable CIPD Level 5 in Human Resource Management
- Essential CIPD Level 3 (minimum) Human Resource Practice
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- Experience managing recruitment processes, including senior leadership roles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to handle sensitive matters with professionalism.
- Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with HR systems (e.g., SIMS, CPOMS, LADO, Probation meetings and managing sickness) Microsoft Office & Google.
- Understanding of health and safety, safeguarding, and GDPR compliance in an educational setting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
