Overview

Role: HR Officer - Permanent - Carrickfergus

VANRATH are excited to support a returning client in their search to appoint an experienced HR Officer. The successful candidate will deliver effective HR support across the organisation, focusing on employee relations, operational HR tasks, and policy implementation to ensure smooth and compliant HR practices.

Responsibilities
  • Provide first-line HR support, advising on grievances, disciplinary matters, and absence management.
  • Lead or assist with employee investigations, ensuring compliance with legal and internal procedures.
  • Manage daily HR operations, including payroll, benefits, and contract updates.
  • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding, including shortlisting, interviews, and employment offers.
  • Maintain HR data and produce accurate reports for senior management.
  • Take minutes at senior HR and management meetings and prepare confidential reports.
  • Deliver HR projects, support wellbeing and CSR initiatives, and align activities with organisational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and employment law, promoting continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • CIPD or equivalent HR qualification.
  • At least three years' experience in a generalist HR role, including handling grievances, disciplinary issues, absence management, and investigations.
  • Skilled in coaching and supporting line managers on HR matters, promoting best practice.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR compliance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills; able to manage sensitive information confidentially.
  • Organised, analytical, and able to prioritise and work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
