Part-Time HR Manager (3 Days per Week)

Location: Kent (Office-based, no hybrid working) Salary: Circa £70,000 per annum (pro rata) + car allowance or company car + pension + discretionary annual bonus

A successful and growing business in the engineering and energy services sector is seeking an experienced Part-Time HR Manager to take ownership of all HR operations and act as a trusted advisor to the senior leadership team. This is a newly created, standalone role, ideal for a hands‑on, commercially minded HR professional who enjoys a varied remit and wants to make a real impact within a close‑knit SME. You'll report directly to the Managing Director and Technical Director, working as part of the senior team to shape the company's people agenda.

The Role
  • Provide practical advice and guidance to managers and employees on all HR matters, including employee relations, performance, and policies.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
  • Maintain and update HR documentation, policies, and procedures in line with current legislation.
  • Support employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Lead salary review discussions and advise on market benchmarking.
  • Partner with directors on organisational growth, succession planning, and retention.
About You
  • Proven HR generalist with 10+ years' experience, ideally within an SME setting.
  • Confident operating as the sole HR lead, covering both strategic and hands‑on work.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Approachable yet assertive, able to balance fairness with commercial decision‑making.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment (experience in engineering, construction, or technical services preferred).
  • Self‑sufficient, highly organised, and resilient, with excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to work on site three days per week.
