Job Description

The HR Manager will have responsibility for providing operational and strategic HR, people and culture expertise across within the Darlington Distribution Centre and wider network as required.

The role will deliver excellence in people solutions and drive performance to foster a People First culture and demonstrate the core values of the business.

They will:
  • Champion a 'people first' vision, driving excellence across the business.
  • Partner with the General Manager, site leadership, and senior teams to align people strategy with business goals.
  • Lead and support on complex Employee Relations (ER) matters, ensuring legal compliance and protecting the business.
  • Deliver key people projects across systems, compliance, and engagement.
  • Ensure all operations meet Company, UK legislation, and customer requirements, including audit standards.
  • Collaborate with the wider HR team on employee lifecycle processes and continuous improvement.
  • Coach managers on performance, culture, and leadership development.
  • Strengthen the talent pipeline through effective succession and development planning.
  • Advise on policy, retention, engagement, and organisational design to foster a culture of care and high performance.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties aligned with the role.

  • Proven senior HR experience with deep knowledge of employment law and complex ER case management.
  • Skilled coach and people developer with experience leading HR teams.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical, organisational, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Confident communicator who builds trust and promotes inclusion.
  • Results-focused, with a continuous improvement mindset and commitment to safety and wellbeing.
  • Ideally CIPD qualified, with a full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.
