Job summary

A leading employment services provider based in Wolverhampton is seeking an experienced Independent Investigating Officer to conduct thorough investigations into disciplinary and grievance matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of the ACAS Code of Practice and exceptional interpersonal skills for managing sensitive discussions. About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and confident Independent Investigating Officer to conduct thorough disciplinary and grievance investigations in line with internal policies and procedures. This role requires a professional with strong interpersonal skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage sensitive and sometimes challenging subject matter with discretion and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Arrange and conduct fact‑finding meetings with all relevant individuals.
  • Take accurate notes and maintain clear records of all meetings.
  • Prepare comprehensive investigation reports with findings and conclusions.
  • Present investigation outcomes at disciplinary hearings on behalf of management.
  • Provide regular progress updates to HR Business Partners.
  • Ensure all investigations are conducted in line with best practice and relevant guidance.
What You’ll Need
  • Proven experience conducting workplace investigations (disciplinary and grievance).
  • Strong understanding of the ACAS Code of Practice.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles.
  • Confidence in handling sensitive and potentially confrontational discussions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
