Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Head of HR in the development and delivery of the Trust’s workforce strategy, taking into account performance objectives and other key drivers and challenges; this will include working on specific projects to support delivery of the workforce strategy within the service area and across the Trust as appropriate.
  • Work with the wider HR teams to ensure the services provided meet the needs of the directorate(s) being supported by utilising the expertise of the specialist teams in the People directorate, addressing workforce issues efficiently and effectively. May lead on workforce matters relating to transformation, quality improvement and cost‑efficiency programmes.
  • Assist managers in identifying HR solutions to resolve business issues and coordinate input from other specialised HR functions as required.
  • Develop robust relationships with managers to influence, challenge and support area/people deliverables and practices.
  • Coach and influence managers in dealing with key people‑management and development issues, identifying training and development needs to improve staff contribution for the benefit of individuals and the service.
  • All new starters receive a thorough induction process, both local and Trust‑wide, to create a positive supportive working environment that allows new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
HR Consultant – Key Responsibilities
  • Provide complex HR advice and guidance on a range of workforce issues and support the HR Business Partner on organisational change and transformation programmes.
  • Develop appropriate HR interventions and provide advice and guidance on a wide range of HR issues.
  • Work well under pressure in a busy operational environment, prioritising conflicting demands while maintaining a calm, pleasant and professional attitude at all times.
  • Analyse HR metrics and other workforce data and apply developed IT and analytical skills.
Essential Qualifications
  • Significant HR experience at an operational level within a complex and unionised environment.
  • Ability to establish credibility at all levels and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative approach to HR solutions, with a pragmatic, ‘can‑do’ mindset.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience with IT and analytical skills, especially in analysing HR metrics and workforce data.
  • Experience supporting transformation and change initiatives in a unionised setting.
