Job summary

AAB in Glasgow is seeking an experienced HR Consultant to join our People Consulting team on a permanent basis (full or part-time, minimum 4 days per week). You will deliver commercially focused HR advice to a range of clients, guiding them through day-to-day issues and strategic people initiatives.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, apply up-to-date employment law knowledge, and help organisations build inclusive cultures.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years' HR experience across advisory, ER and employment law.
Strong communication and client-facing skills.
Ability to translate HR concepts into practical solutions for clients.
Willingness to travel to client sites and offices across locations.

Responsibilities

Provide commercially focused and pragmatic HR advice to clients.
Help clients improve HR setups and implement practical tools.
Advise management on HR policy application and support recruitment and training.
Foster inclusive, values-driven cultures and support development of line managers.
Mentor and support HR queries; be first point of contact for clients.
Research cost-effective HR tools and propose practical improvements.
Represent AAB at external events to support marketing and sales.

ROLE PURPOSE

Due to an exciting period of growth and new client wins, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an HR Consultant to join our Glasgow team on a full or part time (minimum 4 days per week) basis.

About the Job

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join our supportive and close-knit team. The role may be suited to someone with experience in an internal HR role looking to move to a consultancy role, where the focus is on building strong relationships with clients and giving sound, commercial advice. Alternatively, you may already work for a consultancy and be looking to move to a smaller, growing business with lots of room to grow and develop.

We are looking for a candidate who wants to further develop their HR and Employment Law knowledge within a fast-paced business environment, who can build relationships quickly and is excited to support a range of clients across sectors.

No one day at AAB is the same. We work with clients at various stages of their growth journey – whether they are starting out, an established SME, a scaling business or a large organisation. The dynamic environments in which our clients operate requires us to be both proactive and reactive to ensure we deliver an excellent customer service.

In this varied role you can expect to be working on the following tasks and duties as the main focus of your days:

Providing commercially focused and pragmatic advice and recommendations around day-to-day HR and employment issues.
Working with clients to continuously improve their current HR set ups by recommending and assisting with implementing solutions, changes and practical tools to help them grow.
Advising management teams on the practical application of their HR policies and helping them recruit, train and manage their new team members.
Helping our clients to build inclusive, welcoming and values driven cultures and working environments.
Mentoring and supporting the development of line managers, acting as first point of contact for HR queries and on management support and advice.
Researching and implementing cost effective HR tools that simplify working practices and add value to our clients.
Representing AAB at external events and acting as an ambassador to support marketing and sales activities.

Experience & qualifications

About You

Applied knowledge of HR practice, employee relations and legislation and an understanding of how to translate this into simple, effective and practical advice and tools for clients (minimum 2 years' experience).
Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to explain complex ideas and concepts in a clear and concise, jargon-free manner to clients aligned to their needs and desired outcomes.
Excellent questioning skills to carefully understand client issues and needs in order to develop and implement tailored solutions and fulfil requirements.
A consultative and flexible approach with the ability to tailor solutions to requirements and take a commercial and client-focused approach to problem solving.
Effective people skills building trust, rapport and confidence with clients and internally within the AAB team.
Discretion and an awareness and understanding of strict confidentiality requirements.
A forward thinking, solutions-focused and innovative approach to improve and develop tools, processes and solutions.
Responsive and client-focused recognising the importance of facilitating an excellent client experience and representing the AAB brand externally.
Committed to continuous improvement and ongoing learning & personal development.
Highly organised, diligent and with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
Willing and able to travel to our office locations and to client sites, as required.
Candidates should be CIPD-qualified, or willing to work toward gaining this qualification in the future.
Full driving licence and access to a car is essential.
