Job description

Sharp Consultancy is excited to be working with an innovative Sheffield based business who are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join them on a 7-month fixed-term contract.

This role will suit a credible, hands‑on HR professional who enjoys variety, ownership and the chance to shape and improve people practices in a fast paced, creative environment.

The Role

Working as part of a small and collaborative People team, you will partner closely with senior employees across the business to deliver high quality HR support and work towards continuous improvement. The position offers a fantastic blend of strategic input and day‑to‑day operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a full review on recruitment and talent processes, ensuring efficiency, fairness and an excellent candidate experience.
  • Work closely with hiring managers to refine role requirements, improve selection practices and support effective decision‑making.
  • Act as the internal expert on the Employment Rights Bill and other upcoming legislative updates, advising the business on required policy and process changes.
  • Oversee the review and maintenance of all HR policies, ensuring they remain compliant, accessible and aligned with best practice.
  • Support ongoing benefits reviews and assist with the communication and implementation of any changes.
  • Deliver clear, engaging HR communications, including guides, toolkits and manager briefings.
  • Manage a range of employee relations matters, providing balanced, professional advice across conduct, performance, grievance, capability and absence cases.
  • Maintain accurate case records, spotting trends and proactively suggesting improvements.
  • Support wider HR processes including recruitment coordination, performance cycles, culture initiatives and project‑based work.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in a generalist HR Business Partner, HR Advisor or People Partner role.
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law, with confidence managing ER cases end‑to‑end.
  • Experience reviewing HR policies, supporting recruitment processes and contributing to people‑related projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate HR information into clear and accessible guidance.
  • Interpersonal and stakeholder management skills and able to develop relationships, managers and influence effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail, great organisational skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • A proactive, continuous‑improvement mindset and a willingness to challenge existing processes.
