CONTRACT TYPE: Full-time / Fixed-term until October 2026
DEPARTMENT: BBC HR
LOCATION: Salford Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 60000-75700 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a HR Business Partner (HRBP) to join the BBC Content HR team where you will be working in partnership with Sport an operation covering both event coverage and sports journalism as well supporting BBC iPlayer BBC Sounds and Sport online.

Across the wider BBC work has also been initiated this year to improve workplace culture; and this role will also support the roll‑out of this important work which has been designed to change the experience of how it feels to work at the BBC for everyone.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  • Performance Driving a high performing culture is integral to the success of the BBC. The HRBP will initiate and facilitate an environment where employees can do their best work. Coach and build the capability of senior managers to anticipate and pre‑empt organisational issues.
  • Leadership development - Support our managers and leaders in driving cultural improvements across Sport. Implement and roll out actions from the Culture Review with an understanding of the divisional context.
  • Org design Ensuring we have the right team structures and roles in place is critical to our success. You will work closely with managers to support advice & enable effective org design across Sport.
  • Employee Relations Act as the escalation point for often high‑profile and reputational people related matters and work with specialist teams for advisory support. Provide specialist input across a range of HR issues.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • Experience of operating in a business partner model working with local managers to create positive business outcomes.
  • Experience of supporting and developing initiatives around cultural change and behaviours
  • Experience of providing specialist input across a range of HR issues (generalist / specific expertise); designing and delivering effective solutions that meet the needs of the business.
  • Experience of advising on and supporting managers with complex and sensitive ER / HR cases.
  • Experience of working on change projects including Organisational Design.
  • Experience of partnering coaching and building the capability of senior managers to anticipate and pre‑empt organisational issues; develop high performing creative and inclusive teams.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
  • Experience in the media or broadcast industry is desirable.
