Job summary

A leading HR consulting company in the UK seeks an HR Business Partner with a strong Learning & Development focus. This strategic role involves collaborating with senior leadership to implement HR initiatives that bolster business performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and demonstrate strong skills in designing training programs, understanding UK employment law, and influencing stakeholders. Competitive salary of £55,000 - £60,000 per annum.

JOB TITLE: HR Business Partner (with L&D Focus)

LOCATION: Newton Abbot

SALARY: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum

TERM: Full-Time, Permanent

We are seeking a commercially driven HR Business Partner with a strong Learning & Development mindset to join our team in Newton Abbot. This is a strategic people role where you will work closely with senior leadership to shape and deliver HR and capability-building initiatives that directly enable business performance. Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with senior leaders to provide expert HR guidance, acting as a strategic advisor across people, culture and capability.
  • Design and lead the Learning & Development strategy, with a focus on capability uplift, leadership development and future skills planning.
  • Drive high-impact organisational development and change management initiatives.
  • Oversee employee relations, ensuring fair, commercially sound and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Lead talent management and succession planning, identifying critical capabilities required for future growth.
  • Strengthen recruitment, onboarding and retention processes with a development-led mindset to boost long-term engagement.
  • Analyse HR & L&D data/metrics to support intelligent, evidence-based decision making.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning, inclusion and high performance across the workforce.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience as an HR Business Partner, ideally in manufacturing or similar operational environments.
  • Demonstrable experience designing or delivering Learning & Development initiatives (emerging leaders, technical capability, workforce development etc).
  • Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Excellent stakeholder influencing and relationship-building skills at leadership level.
  • Experience coaching leaders and driving behavioural/cultural change.
  • Commercially sharp, proactive and solutions-focused.
  • CIPD Level 5 or above desirable.
