Job Title: HR Assistant (Part-Time, Fixed Term). Location: Consett, Durham. Working Hours: 20 hours per week (flexible days/time). Contract Type: Fixed Term - until December 2025.

Job Description

We are seeking a proactive HR Assistant to join the HR team and provide essential support across all areas of Human Resources. This part-time, fixed-term role offers a varied workload and excellent exposure to all aspects of HR, making it ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on role in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organising employee council meetings and taking minutes
  • Coordinating Long Service Awards, including payments, trophies, and certificates
  • Supporting employee engagement initiatives and events
  • Assisting with the Catalytic Coaching programme
  • Monitoring staff absence and ensuring all relevant forms are completed by managers and employees
  • Supporting HR projects as directed by the HR Director
Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Assisting with recruitment processes, including advertising, arranging interviews, and preparing employment contracts
  • Planning and organising HR inductions
  • Ensuring new starters are set up on all relevant systems and benefits
HR Administration
  • Maintaining and updating HR systems, including ADP
  • Preparing monthly headcount reports and ensuring HR compliance and accurate record keeping
  • Producing reports as required
  • Supporting HR administration for other UK and international locations when needed
  • Processing leavers and organising training sessions
Employee Relations
  • Arranging disciplinary and grievance hearings and taking meeting notes
Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven administrative experience
  • Previous experience working in an HR role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment
