We have an exciting opportunity available for a HR Apprentice to join our team. The HR Apprentice will work within the Employee Relations team to help support, deliver & report on HR initiatives. They will help to build effective relationships with employees and stakeholders and support the HR function in driving employee relations opportunities, initiatives, and the delivery of HR-related company objectives in line with annual plans.

This position will be paid the National Apprenticeship wage of £7.55 per hour on a fixed term contract for 12‑18 months.

Responsibilities
  • Employee Administration: Responsible for ensuring that all HR administration for store-based employees is effective and up to date. This includes preparing and issuing employment contracts for new hires and ensuring new starter packs are received and sent back within the required timeframe, as well as contractual changes for existing employees, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant.
  • HR System Support: Responsible for making relevant changes on the HR system for employees such as change of personal details and change of employment history, as well as general day to day support with the HR system such as pushing through new starters on the interface to the payroll system.
  • HR Inbox Support: Provide timely and accurate responses to day-to-day employee inquiries received through the HR inbox. Categorise emails accordingly to other members of the team daily.
  • Audit and Compliance Support: Support the Employee Relations and Audit team in conducting internal audits and ensuring compliance with relevant employment laws, company policies, and best practices.
  • Employee Relations Tracker Management: Assist the ER Coordinator with reviewing and updating all Employee Relations trackers, including but not limited to maternity leave, sickness absence, and flexible working requests, on a weekly basis to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Reporting: Assist in the preparation of regular HR reports, such as weekly headcount reports, overdue probation review meetings, employee turnover (leavers), and the results of employee engagement surveys, providing data for strategic decision-making.
  • Leaver Processing: Manage the administrative process for employee departures, including saving of paperwork to employee personnel files and updating HR systems.
  • Meeting Notetaking: Support the wider HR team by accurately note taking during Employee Relations meetings such an investigation, disciplinaries and grievances, ensuring confidentiality and precision in documentation.
  • Reference Checks: Complete reference checks for store-based employees.
  • Right to Work Compliance: To ensure all Benefit payroll contracts have evidence of right to work when new starter forms are sent through.
  • Employee Uniform Management: Management and tracking of employee uniforms, ensuring these are sent out in a timely manner.
