Responsibilities
- Support and guide managers and staff in relation to Police Regulations and Police Staff conditions of service, including the resolution of a range of employment issues.
- Input data onto HR systems and databases, ensuring that this is accurate and producing reports as required.
- Provide support to HR colleagues and work across the HR structure as required.
- Supporting the implementation of changes in HR policies and procedures.
- Champion our organisational values and principles of our people strategy, incorporating them into your approach to case work and projects.
Skills and experience required
- Minimum of one year’s experience working in a customer focused HR environment providing information and general advice or Level 3 CIPD qualified (or equivalent)
- Good knowledge of a range of computer packages (including Microsoft Office)
- Excellent administration skills with high attention to detail to manage information and data
- Ability to problem solve and work on own initiative
- Ability to influence and persuade
- You will ideally hold a full current driving licence or be able to travel around the region using suitable transport

Additional Information
- 1 temporary HR Advisor to cover maternity leave, contract up to 12 months
- 1 temporary HR Advisor to cover a temporary promotion, contract 30th November 2026
- Each position works 37 hours per week, over 5 days; Monday to Friday
- Interviews are expected to take place in person on 3rd and 4th December 2025
- Blended (hybrid) working across home and the office (Police HQ, Portishead), travel to alternative locations across Avon and Somerset when required, travel expenses reimbursed in accordance with force policy
- To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year checkable history in the UK – ideally resident in the UK for last 3 years
