Job description

Ashley Kate are proud to be partnering exclusively with a well-respected manufacturing business in Ripley on a HR Advisor role. This is a growing and investment-driven opportunity as the business continues its people-focused journey.

Reporting to the HR Business Partner, you will join a well-established HR team and play a key part in the commercial and cultural journey the business is on. Based on site in Ripley, you will also be required to travel to other sites in the Derbyshire area.

This role is paying £35k - £40k dependant on experience.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. This is a full-time, permanent role with flexibility to cover the night shift operation. Occasional travel to Coventry may be required.

As an HR Advisor, you will serve as a main point of contact for all HR-related matters, offering guidance and support to both managers and employees, applying and upholding HR policies, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, and contributing to employee relations and people-focused initiatives.

About you
  • Solid knowledge of UK employment law and modern HR practices.
  • Confident in managing a wide range of employee relations matters from start to finish.
  • Trusted to handle confidential and sensitive information with care and professionalism.
  • Clear and effective communicator, both in writing and in person.
  • Skilled at building positive relationships across all levels of an organisation.
  • Resilient, proactive, and able to think ahead when planning and problem-solving.
  • Known for integrity, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
  • Highly organised with strong time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adaptable and able to adjust quickly to changing priorities or circumstances.
  • A proven background working in Manufacturing, FMCG, Engineering or a similar fast-paced, blue-collar environment is desirable.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified or working towards or an equivalent HR qualification.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day HR queries and employee relations matters.
  • Manage ER cases end-to-end, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, and absence issues, ensuring fair and compliant outcomes.
  • Keep policies, records, and practices up to date with employment law and internal standards.
  • Coach and support managers to handle people issues confidently and effectively.
  • Contribute to HR projects covering engagement, wellbeing, change management, and learning initiatives.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle—from onboarding to exit—ensuring a positive experience throughout.
  • Handle pay, benefits, and contractual changes, providing accurate payroll information.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyse trends, and report insights to the HR Business Partner.
  • Maintain HR systems and data in line with GDPR, driving continuous improvement through HR metrics and insights.
  • Provide cover for the HR Administrator when required.
