Job summary

UKSBS is seeking an experienced HR Advisor for a 12-month FTC to support managers and employees across a full range of employee relations matters, with emphasis on casework. The role is based in Swindon, Newport or Stockton-on-Tees, with a band D salary of £34,101–£36,000.

You will provide guidance on HR policy, employment law, and best practice, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes. CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience is preferred, and security vetting may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience as HR Advisor with employee relations focus.
• CIPD Level 5 or equivalent or demonstrable professional HR qualification.
• Proven ability to manage and resolve employee relations issues, including disciplinary and grievance cases.
• Ability to coach and support managers in performance management, absence, disciplinary and grievance processes.
• Expertise in applying HR policies and ensuring compliance with employment law and best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with employees, managers and unions.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience creating, reviewing and implementing HR policies in line with employment law.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate employee relation activity, advising managers to resolve issues promptly.
• Act as subject matter expert on HR policy and procedure in investigation meetings, disciplinary and grievance hearings.
• Ensure policies follow legalisation, policy and ACAS best practise.
• Assess need for Occupational Health referrals and support implementation of recommendations.
• Maintain casework records and trackers and support policy reviews.
• Work with senior management on people agenda to meet business objectives.

We now have an opportunity for an experienced HR Advisor to join our People Team on a 12-month contract. As a HR Advisor you will support managers and employees across the business on a full range of employee relations matters, with a strong focus on casework you will ensure that cases are handled fairly, consistently and in line with employment law, organisational policy and best practice.

Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

• Management and coordination of employee relation activity, providing appropriate advice and guidance to managers to assist resolving people issues in a timely manner.
• Subject matter expert in all areas of HR policy and procedure, and confident in its application within investigation meetings, disciplinary and grievance hearings.
• Ensuring legalisation, policy and ACAS best practise are followed.
• Responsible for assessing whether an employee needs to be referred to Occupational Health, facilitation of the referral and coaching and supporting both the business and employee in relation to the recommendations.
• Administration and coordination of casework records and tracker
• Support and undertake policy review adapting HR best practice to ensure policies and practices are fit for purpose, comply with employment law and are successfully implemented
• Identify where guidance is required to support or in place of company policy
• Work in partnership with the senior management team with regards to the people agenda, working to achieve the business objectives.

To do this role well you will need:

• Proven work history as a HR Advisor
• Ideally possessing CIPD level 5 or equivalent experience
• Demonstratable ability to manage and resolve employee relations issues, including disciplinary and grievance cases.
• Proven ability to coach and support managers in performance management, absence, disciplinary, and grievance processes.
• Expertise in applying HR policies and ensuring compliance with employment law and best practices.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to build relationships with employees, managers, and trade unions.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous experience of creating, reviewing, and implementing HR policies, ensuring that they are compliant with employment law and best practices.
• Experience in assessing the need for Occupational Health referrals and supporting the implementation of recommendations.
