Job summary

Pertemps Newcastle is recruiting an experienced HR Advisor to cover a six-month sickness absence in the Sunderland area. You will provide practical, people-focused HR guidance to managers and key stakeholders within the Northern Powergrid People team.

The role spans employee relations, recruitment, performance management, absence, wellbeing, organisational change and learning. Hybrid working may be available between Sunderland or Shiremoor sites.

Qualifications

• CIPD qualification required.
• Significant generalist HR experience in a large or complex organisation.
• Experience working in an HR advisory or business partnering environment.
• Experience partnering with senior stakeholders, including at Director level.
• Experience supporting and implementing organisational change.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and IT systems.
• A full clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive HR advisory service across a dedicated directorate.
• Coach and support managers on employee relations, absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance.
• Advise managers on recruitment, resourcing and organisational changes.
• Support talent development and performance improvement plans.
• Provide HR input into projects, change programmes and working groups; use HR data to identify trends and drive improvement.
• Build strong relationships with managers, colleagues and trade union representatives.
• Work with the wider People Services team and support the People Business Partner.
• Ensure a high-quality, customer-focused HR service.

We’re looking for an experienced HR professional who can demonstrate:

• CIPD qualification
• Significant generalist HR experience within a large or complex organisation
• Experience working in an HR advisory or business partnering environment
• Experience partnering with senior stakeholders, including at Director level
• Experience supporting and implementing organisational change
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and IT systems
• A full clean driving licence

Desirable:

• Degree in HR, Business or a related subject
• Experience working within a trade union recognised environment
• HR experience within a blue-collar or operational industry
