We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in West Northamptonshire to assist with the appointment of a HR Advisor on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £16.80 - £21.28 per hour

Summary

To provide high-quality HR advisory and case management support within a business partnering model. The Senior HR Advisor will manage complex HR cases, support organisational change, and ensure the consistent application of employment law, policy, and best practice across the Council. This role contributes directly to the delivery of WNC’s People Strategy, fostering employee engagement, wellbeing, and effective workforce planning.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and advise on complex HR cases including sickness absence, disciplinary, grievance, performance, and redundancy.
  • Provide proactive and solution-focused advice aligned with employment law and council policies.
  • Act as a first point of contact for operational HR advice.
  • Coach and support managers to apply HR policies and manage people issues confidently.
  • Maintain accurate HR case records and management information.
  • Analyse workforce data (via Excel/Power BI) to identify trends and support service improvement.
Qualifications
  • Degree level education (or equivalent).
  • CIPD Level 5 required.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
