Job description

Newark-based | Monday–Friday (1 day WFH) | 40 hours per week
Travel required to sites across the UK

I'm working with a well-established business in the construction/engineering sector that's looking to recruit a personable, pragmatic, and people-focused HR Advisor. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, project work, and getting out from behind the desk to connect with teams on the ground.

This is a true generalist role, but with a major focus on employee engagement and culture. You’ll be the face of the HR function—building relationships, offering guidance, and making sure the people side of the business feels supported and connected.

You’ll report into the Head of HR and be supported by a HR Administrator and HR Business Partner. You’ll also work on three exciting and meaningful projects:

  • Employee Engagement – Driving initiatives to increase connection, feedback, and overall satisfaction.
  • Management Academy – Helping build and launch a development programme for team leaders and managers.
  • Company Values Refresh – Supporting the rollout and embedding of a new set of company values across multiple UK sites.

You'll be regularly visiting operational sites across the UK, so being happy to get into PPE and onto muddy ground is a must! The team are down-to-earth and genuinely care about their people—you’ll fit in well if you’re friendly, confident, and happy to get stuck in.

What They're Looking For

  • Solid experience in a generalist HR role, ideally within engineering, construction, or logistics.
  • Strong relationship-building skills – someone who’s comfortable engaging with employees at all levels.
  • Hands-on approach and willing to travel regularly (expenses covered or company vehicle provided).
  • Passion for improving the employee experience and building a positive culture.
  • Someone confident delivering projects and influencing change.
