You will work alongside senior HR colleagues to support managers and employees across the business, handling cases from start to finish and applying UK employment law and ACAS guidance in everyday
We’re looking for an HR Advisor to join an established HR team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on operational HR role where you’ll be trusted to provide practical, commercially focused HR advice to managers, manage your own Employee Relations caseload and ensure HR processes are handled accurately and consistently.
If you enjoy the variety of Employee Relations, like working through cases from start to finish and want to be part of a structured, forward-thinking HR function, this could be a great next step.
Working alongside a Lead HR Advisor and two HR Administrators, you'll play an important role in supporting managers and employees across the business.
You’ll manage a varied Employee Relations caseload, providing advice and guidance throughout the process and ensuring cases are dealt with fairly, consistently and in line with company policy, employment legislation and ACAS guidance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Advising managers on Employee Relations matters
Managing conduct and disciplinary cases
Supporting sickness absence and attendance management
Advising on performance management
Managing probationary matters
Supporting and managing grievances
Carrying out and supporting workplace investigations
Preparing for and supporting formal HR meetings
Producing accurate HR documentation and correspondence
Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring processes are followed
Managing your own caseload and competing priorities
Providing practical HR advice and guidance to managers
Working closely with the wider HR team to ensure a consistent approach
Supporting the smooth running of day-to-day operational HR
You’ll have the opportunity to manage cases from the initial issue through to resolution, making this a role where your practical HR and Employee Relations experience will genuinely be used every day.
We’re looking for someone who already has a solid grounding in operational HR and Employee Relations.
You'll ideally have:
CIPD Level 3 minimum, or be actively working towards it
Previous experience working as an HR Advisor or HR Generalist
Strong hands-on Employee Relations experience
Experience managing disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance cases
A good working knowledge of UK employment legislation and ACAS guidance
The ability to apply HR knowledge confidently to real-life situations
Excellent attention to detail
Strong written communication skills
The ability to produce professional HR documentation
Excellent organisation and time management skills
The confidence to manage your own caseload
A methodical and consistent approach to policies and procedures
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small HR team
Experience within manufacturing, logistics or another fast-paced operational environment would be particularly useful.
This is a forward-thinking and highly systemised business. The HR function uses technology and automation wherever possible, including systems that manage departmental case workloads and an advanced time and attendance system with automated reporting.
That means less time spent on repetitive administration and more time focused on what really matters — supporting managers, advising on Employee Relations and managing people cases effectively.
The HR team also operates within a clear and structured timetable, with regular weekly HR meetings and established processes already embedded within the business.
This role would suit someone who is:
Calm. Organised. Practical. Methodical.
You’ll be working in a relatively quiet, focused HR environment where people take pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
You'll need to be comfortable working within clear processes, managing confidential information and staying focused when dealing with a busy caseload.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys operational HR and Employee Relations.
This isn't an L&D or training-focused position, and there is no payroll responsibility. The focus is firmly on HR advice, Employee Relations, policy, process and manager support.
