Job description

The Pall Mall Surgery are looking to appoint an experienced HR Assistant on a part-time basis for 20 hours per week. The post-holder will be required to work as part alongside the Pall Mall Surgery senior management team under the direction of the practice business manager and practice operations manager in providing HR support in relation to the practice team and the Primary Care Network (PCN) team.

The HR assistant will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day HR operations of the practice and PCN.

Main duties of the job
  • Process new starters, including contracts, onboarding paperwork and setting up on HR systems.
  • Carry out payroll-related activities and ad hoc admin duties such as filing and downloading overtime and expense claims in preparation for payment.
  • Manage leavers, update trackers, and organise and minute exit interviews meetings.
  • Co-Ordinate annual staff appraisals ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are referred.
  • Maintain employee records and process changes through TeamNet.
  • Support employee relations administration, ensuring accurate information recorded.
  • Track and support probationary reviews with line managers.
  • Help co-ordinate recruitment and onboarding alongside hiring managers.
  • Respond to colleague HR queries
  • Respond to and co-ordinate flexible working requests within appropriate timescales.
  • Ensure appropriate contract addendums issued when changes made to a staff members employment terms.
  • Carry out eligibility to work checks.
  • Support absence management and help ensure consistent application across departments.
  • Maintain full confidentiality and always uphold data protection standards.
  • Annual audit of staff records to ensure compliance with GDPR regulations.
  • Liaise with external HR provider when specialist advice required.

The Pall Mall surgery is in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex and serves 22,000 patients. We have 6 GP partners, 9 salaried GPs as well as a large team of clinical and non-clinical staff helping to care for our practice list. We are also part the SS9 South PCN, working in collaboration with The Highlands Surgery to provide additional services to both practice populations.

The post offers:
