Job summary

HMx Labs Limited is seeking an experienced project lead to oversee client HPC/supercomputing projects in financial services from its London base. You will own delivery, coordinate senior engineers, and liaise with major stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.

The role blends hands-on software development with strategic direction, including shaping HMx Labs' communication with clients and partners while mentoring junior staff in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Want to work on building critical systems running on over 100,000 cores daily? Want to work within complex environments with multiple stake holders and take ownership for successful delivery of client projects?

We’re looking for someone who can work closely alongside our senior leadership to run client projects in the high performance computing / supercomputing space within financial services.

What you'll be doing

80% of your time will be spent

• Developing HPC platforms and the risk systems that run on them in financial services
• Liaising and managing relationships with multiple stakeholders across tier 1 banks
• Managing and providing support to more junior engineers in the team

20% of it will be spent on

• Helping shape the direction of HMx Labs, what we do and how we communicate externally

Who we're looking for

Someone with a genuine interest in working at the cutting edge of supercomputing, particularly in financial services and solving how it will intersect with AI. The ideal candidate would have experience with

• Writing optimized code in both managed memory and unmanaged languages
• Working with HPC systems, ideally but not necessarily in financial services
• A proven ability to work on large, complex distributed systems within large organisations.
• A strong familiarity with cloud and running HPC on cloud infrastructure
• Able to demonstrate systems thinking
• Good degree of understanding of operating sytems (Linux and Windows)
• A good understanding of networking in general, bonus points for high speed networking such as Infiniband/ NVLink or Ultra Ethernet.

Of course the ideal candidate probably doesn’t exist, but the more you can check off that list the better.

Location: London based, hybrid in office

Salary Range: up to £80k + bonus + healthcare
