Job description
Location and Role Overview

Based primarily in Brent (Main office near the Civic Centre), you will provide support to Brent residents and participants in a variety of settings, including their homes, community locations, Brent Hubs, and libraries across the borough. The service supports adults who have been or are at risk of homelessness, have experienced social exclusion, have previous criminal convictions, suffer with mental health, have substance misuse, and/or could have a learning disability.

We are hiring a Housing Support Worker to join our floating support service. You will support participants on their journey towards recovery, reablement, and independence, all within a compassionate, trauma‑informed environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support participants in all aspects of their housing needs to ensure sustainable housing.
  • Co‑create tailored support plans centred on the participant’s needs.
  • Signpost participants with local providers to support their independence such as Job Centres, employment support hubs, community support centres, mental health trusts and other relevant services.
  • Recognise support needs in an individual and initiate appropriate interventions to prevent further deterioration.
  • Complete safeguarding and other referrals where required.
Key Qualifications & Attributes
  • Understanding of the housing support needs faced by people with multiple and complex needs.
  • Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds and/or a good understanding of the sector.
  • Ability to use, learn and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft and other software programmes.
  • Willingness to show flexibility of working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents.
  • Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people with complex needs.

Working Conditions and Salary

Salary: £27,000 (Annual). Shift Pattern: 8‑month fixed‑term contract, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday on a rota that can range between 08:00–16:00, 09:00–17:00 and 10:00–18:00. You may be required to work outside these hours depending on service and participant requirements.
