Qualifications

Overview

BDS are recruiting for an experienced Housing Support Worker based in Newton-le-Willows. You will have your own caseload of customers and will work with them on a one-to-one basis. You will identify their needs by listening to them and developing a support plan which is achievable and realistic for them.

Your focus will be working with adults, with complex needs, this can include ex-offenders, those with substance misuse, mental health or homeless-related needs, or a combination of these client groups.

You will also work to support veterans as part of a specifically funded project. The veterans we support may have been impacted mentally or physically during their service and you will support them in adapting to civilian life and helping them thrive.

Working hours

Working hours are 37 hours a week. Hours: Monday - Friday 9am-5pm.

Pay

Pay rate of £14.03ph PAYE, £18.09ph Umbrella.

Main duties
  • You will work with other statutory and non-statutory agencies to provide holistic support tailored around the customer's support plan.
  • You will also need to be able to help Residents with applying for Housing Benefits and paying rent etc.
  • To ensure properties are meeting expected standards in terms of repair and cleanliness you will need a sharp attention to detail to ensure that the houses are clean, tidy and all repairs are reported and actioned.
  • You will be allocated a number of properties to manage, working as part of a larger team to deliver the service across your region.
  • Supporting people to be as independent as they can.
  • Supporting people with tasks around their home, supporting them to develop social networks and interests, keeping healthy, managing their money and helping them develop skills and confidence to work or volunteer.

  • You will need an enhanced Adult DBS, less than 12 months old or registered on the update service, already in place prior to applying for this position.
