Housing Options Officer – Fully Remote

Rate: £28.71 per hour (umbrella)

Contract: 3-month ongoing contract

Working Arrangement: Fully remote

We are seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to join our team on a fully remote basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive housing professional to make a real difference in preventing and reducing homelessness while supporting individuals to secure sustainable housing solutions.

Role Purpose

Provide advice, information, and assistance to applicants who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Help applicants explore their housing options, access suitable accommodation, and work collaboratively with partners and agencies to prevent homelessness in the community.

Key Responsibilities
Advice & Guidance
  • Offer advice and information on homelessness prevention, housing options, tenure rights, and security of tenure.
  • Communicate effectively with applicants or their representatives via phone, email, or letter.
  • Ensure advice is accessible to all applicants and supports them to achieve long-term housing stability.
Progress Applications
  • Carry out detailed enquiries and gather relevant information, including financial or health details, to support homelessness applications.
  • Liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies to inform decision-making.
  • Progress all Part 7 homelessness applications in line with current legislation and the Homelessness Code of Guidance.
  • Manage Part 6 housing applications under relevant allocation schemes, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
Requirements
  • Education to A-level standard or equivalent (NVQ Level 4), with a commitment to ongoing professional development and accreditation where required.
  • Sound understanding of Part 7 of the Housing Act (1996 as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017).
  • Proven experience in homelessness prevention and housing advice within a local authority or similar setting.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and case management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.
