Job description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a social housing provider in Southwest London. The client is looking to bring in a compassionate and hardworking Housing Officer on a permanent basis. The postholder will be responsible for delivering a range of services to tenants and leaseholders across the property stock.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday - Friday | 08:00 – 16:00

Location: Southwest London

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £35,000 - £36,000

Interviews scheduled for 11.12.2025

Key duties:

  • Managing rent arrears from initial contact through to enforcement, with a strong focus on early intervention and arrears prevention
  • Overseeing empty homes, including processing, monitoring, and helping ensure swift turnaround
  • Coordinating lettings and managing tenancy changes, including mutual exchanges
  • Raising, tracking, and monitoring repairs to maintain property standards
  • Enforcing tenancy conditions and addressing breaches professionally and proactively
  • Supporting leasehold residents and assisting with day-to-day leasehold management
  • Taking action to recover properties from unauthorised occupants or squatters
  • Offering clear, supportive guidance to both tenants and leaseholders, aligned with the organisation’s customer-focused approach
  • Providing leadership and direction to the team, including setting objectives and carrying out performance reviews
  • Acting as deputy in the absence of the service lead, ensuring continuity across neighbourhood operations

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong understanding of the key issues that impact effective tenancy management
  • Confidence in enforcing tenancy conditions in a fair, consistent, and professional manner
