A local authority in Essex is seeking an experienced Housing Disrepair Lawyer to manage a busy caseload. You'll be responsible for handling around 90 cases, providing legal advice, drafting documents, and representing the authority in court. The role requires a qualified lawyer with housing litigation experience and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload. This position is onsite at least 1 day per week for a 6-month temporary contract, offering competitive hourly rates.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with housing litigation experience.
• Experience of working within a local authority would be highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of housing disrepair and civil procedure.
• Confident managing a high-volume caseload and attending court.

Responsibilities

• Handle around 90 housing disrepair cases at various stages.
• Provide legal advice across the organization.
• Draft legal documents and negotiate settlements.
• Represent the authority at preliminary court hearings.
• Work with surveyors and internal teams to resolve issues.
• Support the development of junior staff.
