Homeside Lodge, Wallsend. We can’t offer a CoS for this role.

What you’ll do
  • You’ll manage the health and safety of the building, patrolling to check fire doors and ensuring everything is locked and secure.
  • Think on your feet and manage a situation on the spot, such as investigating suspicious activity or raising the alarm when we need to engage the emergency services.
  • Monitor CCTV or patrol the premises.
  • Act as the first line of support for our customers when the wider team or their own support network isn’t around to help.
  • When time allows, help keep the premises clean and tidy; you should be comfortable wielding a mop or broom.

This is more than a job, it’s a place where you feel valued. You get great training, support from friendly colleagues and a chance to make a real difference every day. Be part of one of the UK’s top 10 Great Places to Work.

You have
  • Sociable, interested in people and their stories, with a keen eye for detail to spot changes in behaviour.
  • Recognise when things are about to go wrong and are confident intervening in a sensitive way.
  • A team player who can work alone; you’ll have the full backing of our wider team including the out‑of‑hours emergency support team.
  • Calm under pressure with strong communication skills.
  • A passion for supporting the most vulnerable in society (experience in public service is a plus). You understand what’s required to look after the public and our customers.
  • Work on a 4 on 4 off rolling rota between 8 pm and 8 am, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Although you’ll work nights and lone work, we do meet regularly in the daytime for training and team meetings.
  • Able to use technology to monitor CCTV and update records.
  • Will undergo an Enhanced DBS check, for which we pay the cost.
What’s in it for you?
  • 34 days leave (including bank holidays and a “me day” to use as you wish), increasing to 39 days, plus time off for volunteering.

Save on a new phone, bike or car with our discounts.
  • Career progression opportunities; we grow our colleagues and offer pathways for the next step in your career.
