Job summary

Caron Group is hiring a Housekeeping Assistant for Swansea SA3 to join a family of care homes in mid and south Wales. You will perform cleaning duties under the Housekeeper and nurse-in-charge, upholding high cleanliness and infection-control standards across the Home.

The role emphasises dignity, respect, and choice for residents, and offers training, a supportive team environment and opportunities for development within the group.

Responsibilities

  • To be aware of, and comply with, Health & Safety measures to reduce cross infection.
  • To ensure cleaning products are used correctly and follow COSHH guidance.
  • To wear/ use safety clothing and equipment when using cleaning products.
  • To be responsible for in-house cleaning and laundry as directed by the Housekeeper.
  • To work as scheduled by the Housekeeper to meet residents' needs.
  • To maintain high cleanliness standards in the Home at all times.
  • To respond to nurses' requests to ensure cleanliness and infection control.
  • To promote dignity, respect, freedom and choice for all residents.
  • To maintain confidentiality of service-user and company.
  • To report Health & Safety concerns to the Manager and maintenance.
  • To cover colleagues' duties in sickness/holidays/emergencies.
  • To comply with Health & Safety at Work, COSHH, environmental health and fire procedures and Company policies.
  • To properly use all equipment provided for Health & Safety compliance.
  • To report complaints to the Manager/Nurse-In-Charge.
  • To undertake cleaning duties, replenish stocks and exercise cost control.
  • To ensure residents' clothing and toiletries are adequate and named; report deficiencies.
  • To protect residents' personal belongings.
  • To attend staff and other meetings as required.
  • To be courteous and develop good relations with residents, visitors and professionals.
  • To abide by the Company's Quality Procedures and report non-conformance.
  • To promote the good name of the Home and the Company.
  • To understand and adhere to Caron Group’s ethos.
  • To cooperate with staff and attend required training.

We are seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to join our family of Care Homes. As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will undertake all housekeeping tasks and duties as directed by the Housekeeper and / or nurse-in-charge and maintain a high level of cleanliness in all areas and rooms In the Home. The post holder must be physically fit, have a good work ethic and be able to work in a team and independently. All duties must be conducted in a professional manner.


About the role

Responsibilities*:



  • To be aware of, and comply with, all Health & Safety measures to reduce / eliminate cross infection by ensuring all cleaning is undertaken in compliance with Infection Control Guidance


  • To ensure that all cleaning / hygiene products are used correctly by self and others and refer to COSSH guidance at all times


  • To ensure that self and others wear / use safety clothing & equipment when using products and refer to all COSSH guidance at all times


  • To be responsible for all ‘in-house’ cleaning / laundry as directed by the Housekeeper


  • To work as scheduled by the Housekeeper to meet the needs of the residents & Home


  • To maintain the high standard of cleanliness in the Home at all times.


  • To respond to requests from nurses for assistance to ensure cleanliness and infection control in the Home


  • To promote and demonstrate dignity, respect, freedom and choice for all residents in the Home.


  • To maintain service-user and company confidentiality at all times.


  • To report all Health & Safety concerns immediately to the manager and maintenance.


  • Whenever possible / practicable to cover colleague’s duties in times of sickness, holidays, emergencies and serious incidents.


  • To comply with all employee responsibilities in respect of compliance with Health & Safety at Work, COSHH, environmental health and fire procedures etc, and to always abide by the Company’s Health & Safety Policy


  • To use correctly as trained & instructed (not misuse) all equipment provided for Health & Safety compliance and supplied by the Company


  • To report promptly all complaints, however minor, to the Manager / Nurse-In-Charge


  • To undertake cleaning duties, replenish stocks of disposable items and laundry, and exercise cost control at all times


  • To ensure residents clothing and toiletries are adequate and named and ensure deficiencies are reported to the Named Nurse or his/her deputy


  • To take care to protect resident’s personal belongings


  • To attend staff and other meetings as required by the Home Manager


  • To be courteous and polite at all times and to develop good relations with residents, visitors and other professionals both inside and outside the Home


  • To abide by the Company’s Quality Procedures, Policies and Work Practices and to report any such non-conformance to the nurse-in-charge, or manager, in the correct manner


  • To promote the good name of the Home and the Company at all times


  • To understand and adhere to Caron Group’s ethos


  • To co-operate and maintain good working relationships with all staff


  • You are required to attend all training required for this position, and as directed by the Housekeeper / manager
