About the Service

The community In‑Patients service is based across four hospital locations in Cambridgeshire – Brookfields Hospital in Cambridge, Princess of Wales in Ely, North Cambridgeshire Hospital in Wisbech, and ICU at City Care Centre, Peterborough. These units provide rehabilitation to patients after prolonged periods of acute care or recovery from physical injuries.

This vacancy will be based at the Cambridge Rehab Unit, Brookfields Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients and their environment for meals.
  • Assist with serving meals and drinks.
  • Order diets using the patient’s care plan under the direction of the professional staff.
  • Clean and make good patient dining areas after mealtimes.
  • Observe patients and report changes to professional staff.
  • Maintain a hygienic and safe kitchen environment.
  • Clean and tidy patients’ lockers and bed tables.
  • Carry out general light cleaning duties to maintain a high standard of hygiene, comfort and safety.
  • Assist in removing used clinical waste bags according to infection control policy.
  • Report equipment faults and defects.
  • Escort patients as delegated.
  • Attend all relevant mandatory training as and when required.
  • Comply with all relevant Trust policies, procedures, guidelines, including Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, and Confidentiality of Information.
  • Be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients/clients, visitors, and staff.
