Job summary

NCIC in North Cumbria invites applications for a 30-hour permanent Maternity Unit Housekeeper role. You will work under supervision to keep the ward environment clean, safe and comfortable for patients, visitors and staff.

No previous housekeeping experience required as training is provided; duties include serving meals, assisting with feeding, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and supporting a multidisciplinary team in a caring hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Good general education typical for hospital support roles.
  • NVQ 1 in hotel services/food service or equivalent.
  • Training provided for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable ward environment.
  • Serve patient meals and beverages at scheduled times.

Maternity Unit WCH Housekeeper 30 hrs permanent.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic housekeeper who wants to work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team striving to deliver high standards of care. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and gain valuable experience within our departments.

Previous experience as a housekeeper is not essential as in-house training will be provided to ensure you are fully equipped to meet the demands of this role.

Main duties of the job

Work under supervision of the Labour Ward Coordinators/Registered Midwives as part of the unit team to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Serve patient meals and hot and cold beverages at the scheduled times, adhering to food hygiene regulations. Assist with feeding patients as deemed appropriate by qualified nursing staff.

Monitor and maintain high standards of cleaning and hygiene standards of ward kitchen (including fridge and microwave) and treatment/stock/staff rooms, ensuring all equipment/utensils and surfaces are clean at all times, eg discarding out of date food, stock rotation.
