Job Summary

Are you passionate about creating clean, welcoming environments that truly make a difference? We are looking for a dedicated Housekeeper to join our team, helping to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and comfort across our Hospice sites. In this vital role, you'll help ensure our facilities are not only spotless, but also feel like home for our patients, visitors, and staff. Every task you carry out plays a part in minimising infection risks and upholding the dignity and care we pride ourselves on.

This is a fixed term position, for an initial period of 6‑months. Shift patterns would be 4 days in 7.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility with working patterns across 7 days.
  • Physically capable of carrying out cleaning duties, including lifting and moving furniture.

Job Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain a variety of areas including patient care spaces, bathrooms, reception, and administration areas.
  • Dusting, vacuuming, laundry/ironing, and cleaning at higher levels.
  • Use appropriate products and equipment while following hygiene and cleaning protocols.
  • Carry out spot cleaning to manage spills and maintain cleanliness throughout the day.
  • Ensure floor surfaces, furniture, and equipment are clean and well‑maintained.
  • Replenish supplies and disposables daily.
  • Dispose of waste in line with Hospice policies.
  • Report any maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Engage respectfully and courteously with patients and families.
  • Be flexible to support cleaning across other Hospice sites as needed.
Person Specification
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English, or demonstrable good standard of literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Previous experience of working in a cleaning or housekeeping role.
  • Experience of using chemicals and cleaning products safely.
  • Understanding of COSHH regulations.
  • Good standard of IT skills and using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
  • Experience of updating and maintaining records, databases, and other systems accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively with a wide range of people.
