Job summary

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking dedicated housekeepers for evening shifts on wards at Kingsway Hospital and the Radbourne unit, part of the Royal Derby site. You will join a team delivering a high-class cleaning service across two inpatient sites.

Roles are 15 hours per week with two 15-hour shift options: 16:30-19:30 or 17:00-20:00, five days per week with possible alternate weekends. DBS check required and flexible working may be available.

Qualifications

• Healthcare cleaning experience preferred.
• Knowledge of health and safety in cleaning operations.
• Reliable team player with flexible approach.

Responsibilities

• Damp mopping and buffing of all floor surfaces using machinery.
• Vacuum cleaning of all carpet areas.
• Damp dusting of radiators, pipes and ledges.
• Cleaning of furniture, fittings and sanitary fixtures.
• High dusting and window cleaning where required.
• Emptying refuse and maintaining waste areas.
• Clean lockers, beds and mattresses when vacated by patients.
• Prepare dining areas and assist with meal service under supervision.

We have vacancies for our evening housekeeping service on our wards, providing a full cleaning service over our two inpatient sites in South Derbyshire, Kingsway Hospital and the Radbourne unit (located on the Royal Derby site)

Available positions are 5 days a week with possible alternate weekends 16.30-19.30 15 hr/w (Includes food service). and 17.00-20.00 15 hr/w

Main duties of the job

Housekeepers provide a high class cleaning service to all buildings within the Trust, creating a clean environment for all patients, visitors, and staff.

Duties

• Damp mopping and buffing of all floor surfaces, including using machinery. Periodic maintenance as included in the cleaning schedules.
• Vacuum cleaning of all carpet areas, including use of machinery.
• Damp dusting all radiators, pipes and ledges.
• Cleaning of all furniture and fittings by the appropriate method.
• High dusting.
• Cleaning of partition glass and inside of windows where necessary.
• Cleaning of all sanitary fitments.
• Cleaning wall tiles.
• Emptying of refuse bins and removing to place of disposal. Cleaning of all refuse holders.
• Cleaning of lockers, beds and mattress when vacated by the patient

Housekeeping Duties - Duties will vary to suit area

• Prepare the dining room ready for meals.
• Under the supervision of nursing staff ensure all meals are served and presented in an appetising manner
• Ensure all meal and break pots are washed with the aid of the dishwasher and that the kitchen is left clean and tidy
• To work as a member of the 'house' team including attending team meetings as appropriate.
• In the allotted time, any other non-patient duty as required by the Unit manager
• To complete all relevant paperwork as requested by management
