Overview

Job title: Hourly Paid Confidential Counsellor
Location: Leek College
Hours: Approximately 7 hours per week
Salary: £25.38 per hour

The group is currently home to a population of over 6,500 full-time students with around 2,000 adult learners and students on higher education programmes. Main duties and responsibilities

• To promote the greater well-being of students by offering a confidential counselling service.
• To facilitate individual growth and development.
• To maintain a close working relationship with colleagues whilst respecting professional confidentiality.
• To develop awareness amongst students and staff of the counselling function and the nature of the support offered by the counsellor.
• To liaise with relevant parties where appropriate and in agreement or at least the knowledge of the student concerned.
• To develop and offer to personal tutors tutorial workshops on topical issues

Required skills and experience

• Be a member of the BACP with a Diploma in Counselling or above
• Have experience in working with young people and be able to work with a wide range of mental health difficulties.
• Have excellent communication and group presentational skills.
