Job summary

Delta Hotels by Marriott Preston is seeking a Kitchen Porter to support our culinary team by keeping kitchens clean, sanitised and well organised, while upholding health, safety and food hygiene standards.

You will assist with dishwashing, waste management, stock rotation and canteen upkeep, across a flexible rota to cover shifts throughout the week.

This role contributes to guest experience and sustainability goals, with training on COSHH procedures and hotel safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy kitchen or hospitality environment.
• Understanding of health, safety and food hygiene standards.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean and organised kitchen, wash-up and food preparation areas throughout the shift.
• Operate dishwashing equipment safely and effectively, ensuring items are cleaned, sanitised, dried and stored.
• Follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules to Safety & Hygiene standards, including deep-clean tasks.
• Report defects or maintenance needs to minimise damage and downtime.
• Clean and respond to breakages, spillages and hazards to maintain a safe environment.
• Manage waste with separation of recycling and food waste per sustainability practices.
• Assist with stock rotation and deliveries, adhering to food safety rules.
• Clean cutlery trays, waste bins, dishwashing filters and sinks after each shift.
• Fully clean the dishwasher at end of shifts, including drains and filters.
• Follow COSHH procedures and emergency protocols as required.
• Maintain staff canteen area: clear equipment, wipe tables and restock for next service.
