Hostel Manager / Homelessness Services Manager

Salary: circa. £36,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience) + Benefits (3% Pension Contribution, 25 Days Annual Leave plus Bank Holidays)

Location: Birkenhead, Wirral, North West England

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Working Hours: 35 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00 (with some flexibility and occasional evening or weekend work)

As a Hostel Manager / Homelessness Services Manager you will provide strong leadership to a dedicated team, ensuring that residents receive high-quality, person-centred support designed to promote wellbeing, resilience and independence.

The Hostel Manager / Homelessness Services Manager will maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, compliance and service quality while fostering a positive and inclusive culture of continuous improvement and collaboration with partner agencies.

Duties
  • Lead and Manage Staff Teams: Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery
  • Safeguarding Leadership: Embed safeguarding into all service activities and staff practices
  • Resident Support: Promote personalised, trauma-informed support and resident involvement in planning
  • Collaborate with Partners: Build effective relationships with local authorities, health and community agencies
  • Performance and Compliance: Maintain accurate records and quality monitoring in line with regulations
  • Budget and Resources: Contribute to financial planning and ensure value for money
  • Team Development: Supervise and mentor staff through regular reviews and training opportunities
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive service innovation and best practice across all areas of delivery
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the organisation at meetings and partnership events
  • Health and Safety: Work with facilities leads to ensure a safe and compliant environment
Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience of managing supported housing or homelessness services
  • In-depth understanding of safeguarding and homelessness legislation
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships with partner agencies
  • Strong IT skills and familiarity with housing management systems
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in service delivery

Desirable

  • Experience using Mainstay or similar case management software
  • Knowledge of Psychologically Informed Environments and Trauma-Informed Care
  • Budget management and commissioning experience
  • Understanding of funding applications, tenders or bids

This role requires an Enhanced DBS check.
