Orders of St. John Care Trust is opening Melksham Gardens, an 80-bed care home, and is seeking a Hospitality Assistant to support Housekeeping. You will help maintain pristine rooms and communal areas, ensuring a welcoming environment for residents and their families.
You will join a friendly team in a brand-new home opening in 2027, with training provided and opportunities to grow within a supportive, not-for-profit organisation that reinvests in its people and residents.
We’re one of the largest not for profit care provider in the UK, specialising in providing high quality, person-centred care for older people, in care homes and extra care housing nationwide.
At OSJCT we care about our residents and we care about each other. That means you’ll enjoy great career development working for an expanding organisation. Because we’re a not for profit trust, we invest every penny we make in the people who live in our homes and the people who work here too. This means better quality care and lovely homes for our residents, along with competitive wages and great training and development for our people.
We provide outstanding care, working closely with leading experts on dementia and elderly care. And we’re currently modernising our portfolio of care homes – refurbishing our existing homes and moving into new, inspiring, contemporary care homes too.
As we expand nationwide, we need more people with the right mix of skills, passion and ambition to help us grow even more.

Come along to find out more about Melksham Gardens, the Housekeeper role and what it’s like to be part of a brand-new care home team. We’d love to meet you!
Our Hospitality Assistants play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness in our homes, supporting the Housekeeping Team in ensuring that every room and living space is clean, tidy and maintained at all times. You’ll take pride in creating a welcoming, safe and comfortable environment for residents, as well as their friends and families. Some of our residents love to join in with simple cleaning and laundry tasks, so you may sometimes find that you have extra help as you carry out your daily routines.
In joining us, you’ll also become part of our extended family. You’ll work alongside other team members who are passionate about providing care, warmth and kindness to all those who live and work in our homes.
Melksham Gardens is a brand-new, purpose-built 80-bed care home on Longleaze Lane, due to open in 2027. The home will provide residential, dementia and nursing care, alongside respite and day care services.
Designed around residents’ comfort, wellbeing and independence, the home will offer luxury en-suite bedrooms, including suites for couples, alongside private dining spaces, a cinema, gym, activities room, hair salon, wellness spa and dedicated family suite.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at the beginning of the home’s journey. Depending on the progress of the home, you may join us during the preparation and mobilisation period or as we welcome our first residents. Your exact start date may therefore be subject to change and could be later than initially anticipated.
The early stages will be different to working in an established care home as the team comes together and the home prepares to welcome its first residents. You’ll play an important part in helping establish the high standards and welcoming environment that Melksham Gardens will be known for.
The Trust is a great place to work; we’ve been providing care for almost 1,000 years and we’re currently the second largest not-for-profit provider in the UK. Not-for-profit means that we reinvest every penny we make into our residents, colleagues and the care homes we live and work in. Therefore, we offer a great range of benefits, including a competitive salary, training and development. Alongside keeping our colleagues safe with PPE and daily testing
Here are some of the other benefits you’ll enjoy as a valued member of our team:
You’ll be comfortable in an elderly care setting, with the ability to relate to our residents in a caring and sensitive manner. You’ll be able to work on your own initiative and prioritise your work schedule to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
If you’ve worked in a housekeeping role before, then that’s great as you’ll have a good idea of what to expect. But if housekeeping as a profession is new to you, then don’t worry – we’ll provide all the training you need to start your new career with us. What’s more important to us is that you take pride in your work, you’re good at communicating with people, you enjoy working as part of a team, you’ll be keen to learn and will want to excel at your job every day.
If you’re excited about the opportunity to be part of a brand-new care home and want to help make Melksham Gardens a truly exceptional place to live, work and belong,
