Job summary

Nuffield Health Oxford, The Manor Hospital, is seeking a General Hospital Porter (Bank) to support ad hoc staffing on the facilities team. The role requires good people skills, clear communication, and physical ability to move beds and equipment within the hospital environment.

Bank staff are not contracted to a set number of hours; DBS checks are required, and you will join a team focused on safe, efficient patient transfers and maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Good with people and able to communicate clearly.
• Physically able to move beds and heavy equipment.
• Willing to undergo DBS checks as part of the application.
• Comfortable working on the hospital bank/ad hoc shifts.

Responsibilities

• Management of waste streams (clinical, domestic, recycling, special)
• Security checks (early morning opening, evening lockdown, and ad hoc)
• Controlling access to the basement car park
• Managing of patient transfers between departments
• Managing of both internal and external post (including recording of postal use by on-site third parties)
• Maintain the external environment to a high standard (including the basement car park)
• Moving furniture, equipment, medical gases to departments

As a General Hospital Porter at our Nuffield Health Manor Hospital, you'll need to be a good communicator, as this role involves helping our patients to feel relaxed and reassured, before and after surgery. It's also essential that you're happy to undergo our Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, as part of your application.

As a General Hospital Porter, you will:
