Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a Pharmacy Assistant – dispensing services at Royal Preston Hospital. The role supports ward and department medicines supply, dispensing, stock control and patient reception duties within a busy hospital pharmacy.

The post is on a part-time basis (30 hours per week) with a 8:00–19:30 shift pattern; weekend and bank holiday work on rota.

Qualifications

• Maths and English GCSE / equivalent with Grade C or above.
• Experience of working in a team is essential.
• Knowledge of stock control systems and health & safety.
• Good telephone/communication skills and computer literacy.
• Experience in a pharmacy environment and customer-facing work.
• Experience in a busy hospital environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide an effective medicine supply service to wards/departments and patients.
• Dispensing medications.
• Stock control, expiry date checking, and use of the Pharmacy IT System.
• Provide an effective reception service and handle enquiries.
• Maintain dispensing sundries stock and perform housekeeping duties.
• Support training and development of the pharmacy team.
